Summer to Fall, Western Style
Bracelets: Alex and Ani - Compass, Endless Knot, St. Christopher // Earrings: Kendra Scott (on sale under $30!)
- I'm from Oregon, so I just kind of have to
- They're perfect for tailgating
There isn't much that I love more, as far as outfits go, than pairing western style boots with a feminine sundress. Taylor Swift taught us this back in middle school actually, in case you forgot. This look would be perfect for a summer date night or even for class - you could ditch the denim vest if you wanted to tone things down a bit, but I personally love it and happen to be wearing it today with a white tank, striped maxi, and Jacks.
The whole outfit is foolproof because I can almost guarantee that you have a sundress, jean jacket or vest, and some type of boots/booties in your closet. Both the dress and vest were from Old Navy and around $30 (if you sign up for Shopstyle, you can get sale alerts for these items!). I've already gotten a huge amount of wear out of both, and since they are pieces that can transition easily into fall, you could work them into layered looks to get even more mileage. When shopping for summer/fall transition pieces, I look for items that can be paired with boots or booties, with light sweaters or jackets, or over tights. Color is important too - the charcoal, darker green, and rich pinks/purples make the floral pattern feel less spring-y and more versatile.
Oh, and also - my boyfriend took these photos with my brand new Canon EOS Rebel SL1
. He pretended to not be into it at first, but we ended up having so much fun goofing around together by the end of the shoot!

I do love that dress. I could pair it with a warm cardigan for the winter too. Confessions of an Ex-Ballerina

I love my cowgirl boots! They are definitely so fun to wear with sundresses, Taylor Swift style. I adore your floral dress! It's so cute! And so sweet of your boyfriend to take pictures for you! When I ask people to take pics, they seem annoyed, but then they get really into it, which makes it fun!

DeleteI almost picked up that dress from Old Navy. Now you're making me wish I did! It looks gorgeous on you.
ReplyDeleteI really like your outfit and as a matter of fact was wanting to wear my cowgirl boots the other day. I had a western party for my youngest daughter last year and bought her and her siblings cowboy boots and she and her sister still love wearing theirs. I can't remember the last time I saw my son in his. An-t-way, I think I call pull that outfit off too. :-) Oh, by the way, love your hair and nails too! #bloggingboost
ReplyDeleteThank you!! And a western party would be so adorable, what a fun theme :)
DeleteOkay, I literally could see myself copying this exact outfit! Maybe I will for the country concert I'm going to on Saturday!

ReplyDeleteYour nail polish is gorgeous, for some reason its what I noticed first and had to just look at. The boots are cute too, I spend years in Texas and am a fan of the cowboy boots as well
ReplyDeleteI love how you did your hair! I've been looking for a denim vest for ages but there always seems to be something off with the ones I find. And those boots are perfection.

Hi May,
ReplyDeleteI have been wondering how to keep my western style while it is switching from summer to fall, and this blog post is exactly what I was looking for!
I just bought a brand new pair of cowboy boots, from Amberleaves, and your style ideas are awesome for the colder weather ahead. I have even started using your fashion advice from the post, because when you said that when you go shopping for summer/fall transition pieces, to "look for items that can be paired with boots or booties, with light sweaters or jackets, or over tights. Color is important too - the charcoal, darker green, and rich pinks/purples make the floral pattern feel less spring-y and more versatile," it really helped me narrow out what I'm looking for when i go shopping!
Again, I loved this post and cannot wait to see what you share next!
